Bondi Ev: How, When and Why
Starting something new is exciting at any age.
But beginning a new chapter in your early 60s feels particularly special.
For me, stepping into the world of e-commerce has been both thrilling and terrifying. Learning new systems, building a website, understanding technology and finding my way through a completely different way of sharing my work has been a journey.
But it has also been a privilege.
To have the time, curiosity and opportunity to try something new is something I do not take for granted.
The truth?
I am scared.
But after many years of learning, growing and a lot of therapy, I have realised that fear does not mean stop.
You simply keep moving forward.
My husband is a sailor, and one thing I have learnt from him is that when the conditions change, you stay calm and keep sailing.
That is exactly what I am doing with Bondi Ev.
From a small idea to something bigger
Bondi Ev began quietly.
The early years were during Covid, when I started creating ceramic evil eye hangings, plates and platters from home.
It was a creative outlet during an uncertain time, but it quickly became something more.
People connected with the pieces.
They connected with the meaning behind them.
They connected with handmade objects that carried a story.
The next chapter came after October 7, when I began stitching challah covers and donating a portion of proceeds to charity. Giving back remains an important part of Bondi Ev and something I hope to continue as the brand grows.
Now, after years of experimenting, learning and creating, Bondi Ev has evolved into something I always imagined but never quite knew how to describe.

The Mediterranean collection
The first Bondi Ev collection includes 11 pieces inspired by years of travelling through the Mediterranean.
Long lunches.
Dinner by the water.
Days spent on boats.
Evenings that stretch well beyond the meal itself.
The collection includes mezze dishes, salad bowls, platters and dinnerware, each piece created with the intention of bringing people together.
As a student ceramicist, I was always fascinated by the mystery of the kiln.
You begin with an idea, but the final result is always a little unexpected.
The glaze reveals itself.
The colours transform.
The imperfections become part of the beauty.
I was never drawn to creating perfectly symmetrical objects.
I loved organic shapes.
Pieces that felt handmade.
Pieces that looked like they belonged around a table full of people.
The meaning behind Bondi Ev
The name Bondi Ev carries a piece of my story.
"Ev" means home in Turkish.
Bondi Ev means Bondi Home.
It represents the coming together of different cultures, traditions and experiences that have shaped my life.
The Mediterranean.
The evil eye.
The beauty of imperfection.
At its heart, Bondi Ev is about connection.
It is about opening ourselves up to different cultures, celebrating what makes us unique and finding the common ground that brings us together.
A table has always been one of the simplest places where that happens.
